15th Anniversary of 9/11 Memorial Service

Sunday, September 11, 2016 at precisely 8:46 am the people of Southington will gather with members of the Fire and Police Departments as well as public officials, the Knights of Columbus Color Guard, the American Legion, other veterans’ groups and leaders of civic and community service groups for a brief service honoring those who lost their lives on that most tragic day of September 11, 2001 fifteen years ago. Music and sound to be provided by local DJ Jerry Limmer. Flowers will be placed at the site The public is invited. The memorial monument, designed to represent the World Trade Center, is a pair of twin granite tablets installed by Mathieu Monuments of Southington. Remember this never to be forgotten moment in our history at the Rails to Trails crossing on W. Main Stree to honor the memory of almost 3,000 innocent citizens, including Fire, Police and other first responders who lost their lives in NYC, at the Pentagon and in a field in Pennsylvania through the evil actions of terrorists. Arrival suggested by 8:30am to ensure parking space. 

Knights of Columbus Youth Soccer Challenge 

To be held Sunday, September 11th at Field # 3 at Southington Recreation Park off of South End Ave in Plantsville.It's an exciting day for all boys and girls, 9 to 13, participating. Rolling registration starts promptly at 1 pm.  Read full story for details

Growth Mindset: A Key to Success

Will be the September presentation of the St. Dominic POTF Educational Program committee on Monday, Sep. 19th at the St. Dominic Community Learning Center from 7 to 8:30 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.  Based on the book, "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success", by author, speaker and Standford University professor of social psychology, Dr. Carol S. Dweck, this presentation by Ann Marie Spinelli, educational consultant and adjunct professor of mathematics at Central Connecticut State University will explore exciting new approaches to your personal relationships at work, school, friends, family and the business and professional world while opening your mind to powerful possibilities for you.
