STEPS Southington Parents Raising Healthy Teens

PARENTS: Are you a Southington parent looking to get involved?  The STEPS Parent Committee is currently looking for new parents to join!
The STEPS Parent Committee works on three media campaigns throughout the year - awareness of the Social Host Law, preventing underage drinking and promoting the Permanent Medication Drop Box.

We would love to have your input on our projects!
For more information, please email Heather Clinger, Committee Chair, at HClinger@wheelerclinic.org.

***Parents Are Asset Builders***
Building assets is a way to think about parenting consistently across the two decades of childhood and adolescence.
Many of the challenges of childhood and adolescence are normal; you’re not the only one experiencing them. It can be a lot of help to talk with other parents about them.
No single technique is a cure-all. Effective asset-based parenting requires balancing support and boundaries, guidance and empowerment, structure and flexibility, and other tensions.
Parents in all kinds of families can be effective asset builders.
You don’t have to be perfect to be a good parent.
You don’t have to raise your child alone. Invite other caring and trusted adults to be part of your child’s life.
