Deeply reflective thoughts of a Southington citizen on Relay for Life

On the eve of Southington, Connecticut's Relay For Life, I sit with phone in hand thinking about all the wonderful people I've known who are battling cancer, lost their battle, or who are in remission. 

They are all heroes with bravery beyond compare, even if they don't realize it or are just too humble to admit it. They provide such shining examples of how to truly appreciate every day we have on this earth, because they know first hand of it's value. They inspire us to not grumble over small issues, because we know they've had to deal with worse, much worse! 

Whenever I get the honor to take part in Relay For Life or any of their team's fundraisers, I keep them embraced in my heart and mind. 

God bless you all, my beloved cancer warriors, whether you're on Earth or in Heaven.
